What file do you need for a sharp wall print?
An image that looks good on a phone is not automatically suitable for a large wall. Original image quality and final dimensions matter more than a DPI number alone.

Send the original file
Use the original photograph or design source file. Screenshots and images compressed by messaging apps can lose detail. For a logo, the original vector file is useful. Include your preferred width and height so we can assess sharpness at the actual print size.

Pixels, dimensions and cropping
The larger you print the same photograph, the less image information remains per centimetre. Simply increasing the DPI setting does not create new detail. Viewing distance and the type of artwork also matter. Have the file checked before committing to a crop or buying an expensive image.

Backgrounds and permission
Should the wall remain visible around the subject? Discuss a transparent background; a white area in the file may be part of the design. Keep an untouched original copy. Check that you have permission to print the image. We agree the final file and any white underprint with you before production.
